Public Participation a key to Public Administration for a vigilant Indian citizen.

Daily we read that politicians are corrupt, bureaucracy is red tape, municipal corporation is not effective.  These are excuses to rationalize our actions of deviating from being vigilant citizens if we see the following (1) Mass beach cleaning was organised in our city in which many participated to remove rubbish from beach.  After the event, these people identified themselves with the effort for clean beach and were vigilant to any violations by general public (2) Our house owners association collected donations to clean and beautify the park opposite to our house.  Corporation granted equal amount.     Together park was facelifted involving the public.  Next moment everybody started watching out to ensure that park is well maintained and shooed away beggars.  (3) There was a dustbin opposite to neighbours house in the corner of our street. The neighbour used to pick up fight everyday with everyone in the street and also with the Garbage van guys.  The problem was that garbage was stagnating and stenching.  The garbage van guys used to say they would come next only when dustbin is full.  All of us sat and came out with a solution.  We have appointed one labourer to collect daily garbage in bins on a rickshaw at a rate of Rs 5/- per month per house and to dump the bin waste daily into the garbage van at a particular spot.  Dustbins were removed and stagnation problem was avoided.  Above are real life examples of simple solutions in our City,  No Hype,  No role models.  Every public cleanliness problem is our problem.  Every Neighbours Cleanliness problem is our problem.  Let Every Indian brain equally or better than above apply the principles in examples to have customised and local solutions and spare time and effort to acheive a Clean, Green and Healthier India.
